Read 1 John 2:28-3:10
Helpful Background Information:
Having warned against those who are abandoning the faith (1 John 2:18-27), John now begins to encourage the believers to stay the course (1 John 2:28-3:10). To do so, there are three main commands that John gives:
Remain in Christ (1 John 2:28)
See what great love the father has given to us (1 John 3:1)
Let no one deceive you (1 John 3:7)
In this passage, John repeatedly appeals to the appearance of Christ as their true source of confidence and hope (1 John 3:2-6). They can rest assured that they belong to Him when they reflect His love (1 John 3:10).
