Day 5: Psalm 46:10
Read Psalm 46:10
Helpful Background Information:
In Psalm 46:10, we see a wonderful command from God: “Be still, and know that I am God.” Believers, with all the business and weariness life can bring, can have peace and calmness because God is in control of all things, and he will be glorified no matter what happens. Every believer can take comfort in knowing that the Lord, our strong protector, has always been with us and always will be. We are encouraged to quiet our minds and hearts, and to find peace and rest in God's presence: a primary way we do this is through prayer
In Mark 1:35, Jesus exemplifies this for us. After a full, busy day of ministry, he was able to go to the Father in prayer the next morning. He made an intentional effort to be still before the Lord, going to him in prayer. He needed to be refreshed by his communion with the Father: resting, waiting, and enjoying the Father’s presence. After Jesus had this moment of “being still” before Him, he was then strengthened to continue in busy ministry, relying on the Father.
