Ephesians 5:15-19
Read Ephesians 5:15-19
Helpful Background Information:
In Ephesians 5:15-19, Paul urges Christians to live wisely and make the most of their time. Paul’s warning is timely, especially as we transition into the summer season. He calls Christians not only to avoid sin, but to seize every opportunity for spiritual growth and impact. The Greek word for “make the best use of the time” (Eph. 5:16) literally means to “redeem” or “buy back” time, as if each moment is something valuable you can rescue from waste. That does not mean summer has to be boring or rigid; instead, it means that for a follower of Jesus, every season, including summer, is a chance to live with purpose, making the most of the opportunities that God has given us.
Reflection Questions:
What are some ways you tend to “waste time” during the summer? How might God be calling you to use that time differently?
What do you think it means to “understand what the will of the Lord is”? How can you pursue that understanding this summer?
What are some specific opportunities you know you’ll have this summer to grow spiritually, serve others, or share your faith?
When you reflect on your summer in September, what would lead you to say, “I didn’t waste it”? What steps can you take now to move toward that goal?
