10 questions to ask yourself when giving loving correction
Taken from Brad Bigney’s “Doing surgery part 2” message from when Marriage and Mercy Collide.
Have I prayed about this?
Am I focused on promoting God’s truth or my own preference?
Am I correcting in a Spirit of gentleness? (Galatians 6:1-2)
Am I open to different/additional facts that could change my perspective?
Is this just a hit and run or am I willing to see this through with them?
Do I avoid using extreme language like “you never” or “you always”?
Can I be concise or am I just wanting to “unload”?
Am I condemning or helping them move towards conviction and repentance?
Am I pointing them towards the Gospel or am I just focused on their sin?
Am I maintaining a posture of humility by asking: “Do you have any concerns with my attitude or approach in how I’ve brought these things to your attention?”
