2 Corinthians 10:1-6

Read 2 Corinthians 10:1-6

Helpful Background Information:

  • In 2 Corinthians 10:1–6, Paul reminds believers that while we live in a physical world, our primary battlefield is spiritual. Paul describes how Christians wage war differently from the world. Our weapons are not swords or human strength but spiritual tools given by God. These “weapons” include truth, righteousness, faith, prayer, and the Word of God, as described in Ephesians 6. Paul specifically says these weapons are “divinely powerful to destroy strongholds.” A stronghold can be anything: false beliefs, sinful patterns, prideful thoughts that set themselves up against God.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Paul says our weapons are “not of the flesh.” What weapons do you think many people try to fight their battles with instead of the weapons God gives us to fight with?

  2. What are some examples of “strongholds” in your life or in the world that need to be broken down? What “weapons” are best suited to breaking down those strongholds?

  3. Paul urges us to “take every thought captive to obey Christ.” What does this practically look like in your daily life?
