Isaiah 46
Read Isaiah 46
Helpful Background Information:
Isaiah often proclaims the coming of the Messiah.
In the first 40 chapters of Isaiah, the primary theme is an indictment against the Israelites for their sin and idolatry against the Lord.
Additionally, the primary theme of chapters 40-48 is a case for the loving sovereignty of Yahweh. Isaiah points to the Lord’s ability to say beforehand what He will do and then to accomplish what He said. He then challenges the false gods to do the same. Chapter 46 follows this theme of comparing Yahweh to false gods.
