SAMARITAN MINISTRIES

Samaritan Ministries is the means by which Crossroads provides for the material needs of the Crossroads body of believers and the local community. All material needs that are met are unashamedly met for the purpose of pointing people toward the gospel of Jesus Christ. All Samaritan Ministry opportunities are designed to fulfill God’s calling for the church by stewarding all resources according to biblical truths, equipping the saints for service, maintaining dignity of the receiver, and protecting the integrity of Crossroads by remaining above reproach.

Samaritan Ministries is broken down into two different types of provision, Gifts and Matches.

SAMARITAN MATCHES

A Samaritan Match is when Crossroads matches a donor in missional giving, therefore doubling the donor’s ability to meet a local need. A donor is a regular attender of Crossroads. Matches are missional and are thus meant to help a donor within the body of Crossroads donate to someone outside of Crossroads

QUALIFICATIONS

The donor must have a non-family personal relationship with the receiver.

The donor must not be anonymous

Crossroads must be able to give the match directly to a business on behalf of the receiver

The donor can meet with Samaritan Ministry Overseers prior to the match

The recipient must not have received a match in the previous three months. Exceptions can be made during difficult circumstances such as quarantine.

SAMARITAN GIFTS

A Samaritan Gift is when Crossroads gifts funds or service with no financial obligations from the recipient. The recipient may be either a Crossroads member or a community member.

QUALIFICATIONS

In order to receive a Samaritan Gift, a client must have a meeting with an overseer.  The meeting can be through a video call or a phone call in dire circumstances such as in quarantine.

A client must be willing to answer personal questions pertaining to the request, i.e. Needs Assessment.

If a potential recipient has a church home not Crossroads, contact with the client’s church will be made prior to any decision in order to determine whether to offer help or not.

A client’s first Samaritan Gift generally gets accepted.  Additional requests will require more commitment to spiritual growth in order to receive help.

Crossroads must be able to give the Gift directly to a business on behalf of the client.

Crossroads reserves the right to discern when provision is or is not required as the church is not a social service but instead is under the headship of Jesus Christ and thus an ambassador to Him and His purposes alone.

If you have any questions regarding either the Samaritan Gift or Match please feel free to call our front office at (419) 335-3686.
